the best is to have 2 guppies in a small tank.
a few guppies will be nice!
or goldfish too! but the less fish the better!
Small tank like below 5 gallon? A betta & only a betta.
The general rule for tropical fish is for every inch that they will grow to be, is how many gallons of water they need.
You need at least a 5 gallon tank for tropical fish, because they need a heater & they need a filter.
Not something that just moves the water - an actual filter that holds carbon & removes bad toxins.
If u want a small tank do not expect to have a lot of fish.
Goldfish r known to be ''dirty'' fish so I would not recomend that unless u have proper filtration, & they also grow so fast that soon u will have a salmon instead of a goldfish.
Betta fish r excellent pets because they r pretty, need no filter, & can be kept in smaller tanks than most fish. This makes them ideal for offices. Plus they r inexpensive. Just remember to keep male bettas separated because they tend to fight. Hope this helps!!
Good Luck!!!!
hi,
few basics for a small fish tank.
keep atleast 5 ltrs of water per fish. so if u have a 20 ltr tank, then dont keep more than 4 fishes
put fishes that not make the water dirty, eg, gold fishes eat a lot, so u have to feed a lot, adn the residue remains in water, they also eat & spit out food, adding to sedimented food particles, they also shit a lot,,
all these factors adds to decomposition of stuff & addition of ammonia in the water.
this leads to unhealthy water & sick fishes affecting the size, growth & color of fishes.
i recommend putting fishes like angles,,, they r very disciplined & will not contaminate water. more over they react to ur presence & u will enjoy the pet. more over their majestic movement helps cool down ur stress levels, & helps phychological development of kids as well.
mind you, maintain the natural cycle in the tank, keep less fishes & adequate plants & lighting,, the ammonia generated by the decomposition of food waste & fish waste is absorbed by natural plants & algae,, to keep the plants healthy, & functional, have sufficient light.
this will ensure a healthy natural fish tank, all u need is an air supply to dissolve oxygen in water, & u will nto even require a water filter,
community tank fishes go together, angles, goldfished, molly, guppi, neon, tetras, sword tales, etc,
dont put guramis & fighters in community tanks,
small sharks r also harmless but ur tank is small u said,
mind u, few angles if hungry tend to be agressive as well, but thats rare
take care, enjoy ur hobby
sharks
If its not a heated/lighten tank then one of the goldfish breed !
cetol fish or cebong fish or mujair fish
Neon tetras. They are brightly colored, active, and stay small.
I have fan tails and your standard feeder fish in the same tank and they get along and are getting very big. I have a beta in a bowl and she is beautiful and have had her for a long time too.
3 goldfish and a snail
beta
you could get some guppies, gold fish, a betta, molly's, tetra's. this is just a list of small fish i had before, but it depends how small it is, I
think you probably only need 2 to 5 fish at max if its a 5 gallon.
Tiny aquatic frogs are fun (technically not a fish, I know, but still neat for a small tank.)
How small is small? If its 5 gallons or under the only fish I would put in there is a betta, or maybe 3 male guppies. You could get an african drawf frog or ghost shrimp too.
Goldfish need 10 gallons each minimum, for 5 goldfish you would need a 50 gallon tank and that is not small.
Five goldfish.
